Abstract

Self-reflection is widely recognized as an essential psychological process that encourages individuals to examine their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors in a meaningful way. As young adults encounter academic, social, and professional challenges, reflective practices can strengthen emotional awareness, improve self-regulation, and support healthy interpersonal relationships. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between self-reflection practices and emotional development outcomes among young adults.

A quantitative research design was employed using a structured questionnaire administered to 250 participants between the ages of 18 and 30. Data were collected from university students and early-career professionals through online and printed surveys. Descriptive statistics and correlation analysis were used to examine the association between reflective behaviors and emotional competencies.

The findings indicate that individuals who engage in regular self-reflection demonstrate higher levels of emotional awareness, emotional regulation, resilience, empathy, and overall psychological well-being. Participants who consistently evaluated their personal experiences also reported greater confidence in managing stress and adapting to challenging situations. These findings suggest that self-reflection serves as a valuable tool for promoting emotional maturity and personal growth.

The study concludes that integrating reflective practices into educational settings and personal development programs may enhance emotional development and psychological wellness among young adults. Future research should explore these relationships across different cultural and professional contexts.
